World Oceans Day is celebrated on 8 June. That is why the United Nations has called for stopping plastic pollution through sustainable efforts to save the oceans. 


The United Nations said that 'Tuesday is #WorldOceansDay, from eating local fish to stopping plastic pollution, we all have to play the role of #SaveOurOcean'. At the same time, the theme of this year's World Ocean Day is 'The Ocean: Life and Livelihood'.


It is particularly relevant in the lead-up to the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development and will run from 2021 to 2030. 


According to the United Nations, the purpose of the Decade Theme is to strengthen scientific research and international cooperation to develop innovative technologies that are capable of linking oceanography with the needs of modern society. 


On the occasion of World Environment Day on 5 June, the United Nations Decade from the Restoration of Ecosystem Systems called for the protection and restoration of ecosystems.
