Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka, 1st ODI: Mushfiqur Rahim played strong innings, Bangladesh made the lead in the series

Hosting Bangladesh in the first ODI, the hosts took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.


Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka, 1st ODI: The first ODI between Bangladesh-Sri Lanka was played at Dhaka's Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium (Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka) on 23 May, in which Bangladesh won by 33 runs. 


With this, the host team has taken a 1-0 lead in a series of 3 matches. Batting first after winning the toss, Bangladesh scored 257 runs after losing 6 wickets, in response to which Sri Lanka was reduced to just 224 runs in 48.1 overs.


Captain Tamim Iqbal (Tamim Iqbal) scored 52 runs for Bangladesh. After this, Mushfiqur Rahim, along with Mahmudullah, scored 109 runs for the fifth wicket. Rahim scored 84 runs with the help of 5 boundaries in 87 balls, while Mahmudullah was dismissed for 54 runs.


Apart from this, Afif Hussain contributed 27, while Saifuddin contributed 13 not out to the team's account. Both unbeaten pavilions returned. Dhananjaya de Silva took a maximum of 3 wickets in his name from the opposition team.


In response, Sri Lanka lost their 5 wickets to the score of 97. Although Vanindu Hasaranga played a brilliant inning of 74 runs in 60 balls with the help of 5 sixes and 3 fours, he could not win Sri Lanka. For Bangladesh, Mehdi Hassan took 4 wickets for 30 runs, while apart from him, Mustafizur Rahman took 3 wickets.


The remaining two matches of the series between the two teams are to be played in the same stadium on 25 and 28 May. According to Indian time, these matches will start at 12:30 pm. Sri Lanka will have to win the second ODI match to stay in the series.
