Friendship Day 2021:   International Friendship Day or Friendship Day 2021 is celebrated every year on the first Sunday of August. On this day people party with friends and go for a walk. This day has special significance among friends. Just as Father's Day is dedicated to father and Mother's Day is dedicated to mother, in the same way, Friendship Day is dedicated to friends. On this day people give cards, flowers, chocolates, etc. to their friends. This year Friendship Day will be celebrated on 1st August 2021.

Friendship Day History The

The first friendship day was organized in 1958. However, it was originated from Hallmark cards by Joyce Hall in 1930. The United Nations finally declared 30 July as the official International Day of Friendship. In India, however, it is usually celebrated on the first Sunday of the month of August. In 1998, Nain Annan, wife of former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, announced Winnie the Pooh as the Global Ambassador of Friendship to the UN. 

Friendship Day

Worldwide Friendship Day is celebrated on different days in different countries around the world. On 27 April 2011, the General Assembly of the United Nations declared 30 July as International Friendship Day. However, in many South Asian countries including India, Friendship Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of August. Friendship Day is celebrated on April 8 in Orblin, Ohio
