He said simply that the pair have been performing brilliantly for the last several years and when it comes to ODIs, only Shikhar and Rohit will open. There is no doubt about it.

Virat will open in IPL:

Virat had a tremendous performance in the last T20 against England, opening with Rohit for the first time and both gave a strong start to the team. After this, Virat had said that he would like to open with Rohit even further and will bat in the same order in the IPL as well. At the moment, Virat spoke again on this and said that it was a strategic move and it worked very well for him. The captain said that he will play the same role in IPL 2021 and will play any role according to the circumstances of the team. He made it clear that he would have to change his position to give a chance to a player like Suryakumar Yadav.

Virat agreed with Rohit saying, 'As Rohit mentioned, it was a strategic move but we enjoyed batting together and we saw the effects of batting together. This doesn't need to continue in the future. I am going to open in IPL to have all the options available. Now I want to understand my role as an opener so that I can open a slot for a player like Surya. I need to be able to play any type of role the team needs. We will decide on this at the time of the World Cup.
